Bloor Homes Submits Wandon Park Planning Application

Leading house builder Bloor Homes has today (19 August 2013) submitted an outline planning application to North Hertfordshire District Council for up to 1,050 high quality homes (including up to 40 per cent affordable housing to meet local housing needs) on land between Tea Green and Cockernhoe, north east of Wigmore, Luton.
The proposals, known as Wandon Park, would deliver a range of essential community facilities and benefits to both new and existing communities, including:
- New parks and open spaces, including allotments
- Safety improvements to local roads, including a new ‘relief’ road
- New and improved footpaths and cycleways
- New regular bus services
- New primary school
- Improvements to existing woodland and new woodland planting incorporating woodland walks
- Local centre with shops and a community hall
The site for the proposed development has been carefully selected by Bloor Homes after the completion of detailed landscape assessments. The proposals have been brought forward following the site’s identification by North Hertfordshire District Council as a potential strategic development location in a consultation paper published in 2013*.
The draft proposals were shared with local communities at public exhibitions in Cockernhoe and Wigmore in June 2013.
A spokesperson for Bloor Homes, said: “Great care has been taken when developing our proposals for Wandon Park to design a new sustainable community which offers a range of benefits, in addition to providing quality local housing for which there is recognised need.
“A significant amount of green space is included in the plans which we believe respect the setting of existing communities and landscape features.”
